PROJECTMoving People
GOALWhether communicating internally, with the public, or directly to the media, WMATA spokespeople are constantly in the spotlight. They need to make sure their messages are clear, consistent, and persuasive — and that they’re particularly able to field questions from the media with composure and confidence.
Taft created a custom presentation and media training course for 24 WMATA executives which included hands-on, 1:1 coaching sessions for each participant. The training, called Moving People, focused on “best practices” for dealing with reporters and handling Q&A, with special attention given to the communications challenges facing government agencies.
To spark broader culture change internally, we created a “Moving People” messaging initiative, supported by a messaging platform and an original animated video.
THE RESULT
Thanks to the Moving People initiative, WMATA executives now say they are more comfortable with the media and in public, especially in Q&A
